Its called National Thank Your Matchmaker Day and founder Trish McDermott has designated it on February 13. As she puts it, Before you say I love you to your partner, say Thanks to the person who brought you together.
McDermott, a matchmaker for engage.com, says people who are in love should annually thank their matchmaker be it a hairdresser, a relative or a friend by either taking them out to dinner if youre still friends or a silent moment of remembrance if youre no longer in contact.
Naturally, she hopes the matchmaker salute becomes an annual rite and inspires more people to make matches between their single friends.
When it comes to matchmaking, intuition is key. For instance, McDermott says, You dont want to introduce a person who wants a one-night stand to one who wants a marriage and a house with a white picket fence.
