Lake Tahoe Resort Celebrates ‘Elvis Day’

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Elvis Presley went to “Heartbreak Hotel” but some of his fans prefer to visit the Mt. Rose Ski Resort in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

For the last 11 years, the resort has been celebrating “Elvis Day” on the slopes around the King’s birth date: Jan. 8.

This year, the resort is holding its King “ski- labration” on Saturday (Jan. 7), and spokesman Mike Pierce says lots of skiers, staffers and bartenders will be dressed up as Elvis for the whole day.

An Elvis Presley impersonator will sing the King’s tunes at the top of the run and Pierce promises a team of “skiing Elvae” will be jumping around the slopes.

Although skiers are encouraged to dress up as the King of their choice, Pierce admits there’s one Elvis outfit that’s more popular than the rest.

As he puts it, “The event is a big spoof so you’re more likely to see people skiing in rhinestones than leather jackets.”
