Former O-Town Member Broke, But His Spirit’s Not Broken

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – You’d think music artists with platinum albums would be set for life, but former O-Town member Ashley Parker Angel says even the best boy bands go broke.

Parker Angel is about to make that obvious in a new MTV reality series called There and Back.

In his words, “The show picks up with me living with my girlfriend’s mom. It was a scary time to invite cameras into my life, and also kind of embarrassing. I didn’t frivolously spend my O-Town money.”

In addition to following Parker Angel through the process of making a new album, the series shows the 24-year-old former teen heartthrob looking for part-time work and temp jobs to make ends meet.

The album is due out in 2006, and Parker Angel says he’s returning to his piano/rock roots, adding, “I never really gravitated toward boy band music, per se.”

By the end of the series, he says, “I hope people see me as a real artist...Not that spiky blonde-haired guy from O- Town.”

There and Back premieres on MTV Jan. 9.
