Original Hollywood Sign For Sale

HOLLYWOOD (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A piece of Hollywood’s history is up for sale: The original Hollywood sign.

The original wooden sign that once read “Hollywoodland” and stood from 1923 to 1978 is up for sale on eBay.

Dan Bliss currently owns the sign and says he bought it off a friend who bought it in 1978.

Bliss says he never had the “land” part of the sign, and presumes it was destroyed.

When Bliss bought the sign in 2003 he paid “six figures.” He has posted it on eBay at the opening bid of $300,000.

Bliss says he needs to unload it because he’s a film producer and doesn’t have the time to maintain it anymore.

Although there are no bids, Bliss says he has received questions about it from as far away as Germany, where a theme park may be interested in adding it to their grounds.

The auction ends on Saturday (Nov. 26).
