Say ‘Sayonara’ To Soccer Moms

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Gwyneth Paltrow wouldn’t be caught dead driving a minivan and looking frumpy, and a New York author thinks other mothers are dropping their soccer mom ways and following suit.

Author Katherine Stewart has penned a new novel called The Yoga Mamas (Berkley Trade) and says the characters are based on lots of celebrity and non-celebrity moms who are “stylish and proud to be mothers.”

She says Kate Hudson is just one of the moms who made motherhood fashionable by going out on the town and “looking absolutely gorgeous with her pregnant belly.”

She also thinks hip mamas like Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie and Heidi Klum are showing women that just because you’re a mother, you don’t have to lose your sense of style.

In her words, “No one in the novel wears ‘Mom Jeans,’” referring to the unflattering, high-waisted jeans parodied in a Saturday Night Live skit.

So is yoga required to be a true Yoga Mama? Stewart insists that ladies just “have to be flexible to be a mother.”
