College Students Waltzing Onto Ballroom Dance Floors For Upcoming School Year

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – With the college school year starting, students will be tapping into another hobby besides beer-drinking: ballroom dancing.

That’s according to President of the Purdue Ballroom Club Tyler Hershberger, who says with the help of dance-oriented films like Shall We Dance? and TV programs like Dancing With the Stars, ballroom dancing is dancing into the hearts of many college students.

As proof, he cites the record of amount of students who have joined the Ballroom Club on the West Lafayette, Indiana, campus for the upcoming school year – including pride-swallowing guys who are using the dance lessons as a way to pick up girls.

In his words, “You always have the guys that say ballroom dancing is for gay people, but [male ballroom dancers] are always the ones dancing with a girl all night.”

Besides its effects on the ladies, Hershberger says ballroom dancing is good exercise, a form of physical therapy for injured folks and a great way to meet people.
