Ray Charles Goes Postal Today (Aug. 24)

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Ray Charles left his stamp on music and now he’s leaving it on a Los Angeles post office today (Aug. 24).

That’s because the L.A. post office near the soul legend’s studio is being renamed the Ray Charles Post Office Building at a ceremony starting at 2 p.m. PST.

Congresswoman Diane E. Watson came up with the idea of Charles going postal and she hopes it’s just the first of many honors for the singer.

But while there is now a post office honoring Charles, the people who handle his estate have no plans to return the favor by rerecording hits “What’d I Say” or “Hit The Road Jack” with mail-oriented lyrics like “What’d I Send” or “Lick The Road Jack.”
