Boston won in a landslide over Philadelphia, Detroit and Miami, in the Sporting News magazines annual list of great and bad sports cities in the past year.
The list is determined by a variety a factors such as playoff berths and fan fervor, but the one that holds the most weight is the number of championships.
Boston cleaned up thanks to the Red Soxs World Series victory and the New England Patriots Super Bowl triumph.
Sporting News spokesman Bob Hille says the Boston win is one of the biggest blowouts in the 11-year history of the award.
Meanwhile, Tampa-St. Petersburg was chosen the worst sports city in the U.S., mostly because of the ineptitude of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the lowly Devil Rays.
