Fans Waiting To Sink Their Fangs Into ‘Dark Shadows’ Convention

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Living cast members of the 1960s supernatural soap opera, Dark Shadows, are gearing up for their annual Dark Shadows Festival, which takes place at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel starting Friday (Jul. 29).

Former actress Lara Parker, who played the bewitching sorceress Angelique, will attend this year, and says her view on fan conventions has changed since she first started attending them back in the ’70s.

Back then, she thought, “That part of my life is over. Why don’t these people move on?”

But as the fan base has held strong the past 39 years, Parker says she and others have seen the show for the cult soap opera it turned out to be.

Not only that, she learned from female fans that her character – who could magically make men pay for crossing her – empowered women and showed them they “didn’t have to be vulnerable.”

In Parker’s words, “Angelique pre-dated Joan Collins. She was the bitch that could.”
