The main reason: This year marks one of the only years festival organizers will not pass out free breath fresheners. Instead, as festival spokesman Peter Ciccarelli puts it, everyones going to have to bring their own.
Still, that shouldnt stop the estimated 125,000 garlic- loving folks from attending the three-day event in the city that claims to be the Garlic Capital of the World.
Ciccarelli says two tons or 4,000 pounds of the zesty clove will be consumed and mixed with foods like calamari, scampi, pepper steak sandwiches, and ice cream.
This weekend wont be all about the garlic though. Ciccarelli says more than 450 kegs of beer will be thrown down the hatchets of attendees to wash down the garlic-saturated meals.
