Dozens of Bob Jones Uniting For Golf Tournament

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Starting July 13 dozens of golfers will be “Bobbing around” at a golf course in Frankenmuth, Michigan – literally.

That’s because the 27th annual Bobby Jones Open is taking place and only folks named Bob Jones can participate.

Tournament organizer Bob Jones – naturally – expects more than 60 Bobs, Bobbys, Roberts, and Robertas from all over the U.S. to swing the sticks for the three-day event, which aims to raise money for research on a crippling spinal nerve disorder that afflicted the tournament’s namesake, golfer Bobby Jones.

With all the Bobbys milling around, there’s bound to be a lot of head-bobbing on the golf course – and at local hotels – so Jones says each Bob Jones will have to pick a nickname based on their hometown or occupation like “Phoenix Bob” or “Lawyer Bob.”
