Two female authors of the barbecue book The BBQ Queens Big Book of Barbecue (Harvard Common Press) claim men and women have different grilling styles.
Co-author Judith Fertig says male barbecuers focus on one great dish like steak or ribs, but when women get behind the grill they tend to also plan out a whole meal including grilled vegetables and salads.
Fertig and her writing partner say women have learned how to barbecue from men, but they figure its time men learned from women and start thinking about the whole meal.
Fertig says she thinks it would be interesting to turn over the grill to women on Independence Day.
She recommends to her sizzling sisters, You cant go wrong with a thick steak, and she says try slicing it thin and serving with a salad.
