‘Into The West’ Actor Into Time Travel

ATLANTA (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Some actors take roles in historical features for money or fame, but Matthew Settle takes them in order to time travel.

Settle – who stars in the TNT miniseries, Into The West – says he can’t resist historical dramas and is “drawn to them like a No. 2 pencil on paper. When done correctly it feels like time travel.”

Although Settle has appeared in World War II dramas and Roaring Twenties gangster films, he says he never felt more “lost in time” than he did in his current role as pioneer Jacob Wheeler.

Part of the reason was his training for the role. Settle and co-star Skeet Ulrich went to a school to learn how to make wagon wheels and how to shrink an iron tire onto a wheel hub.

He admits that he probably won’t use his new wheel-making talents ever again but jokes that if his acting career doesn’t work out, he could get a job at the Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, because “...they’ve got a wainwright and wheelwright shop there.”

Into The West debuts tonight (Jun. 10).
