Accordion Music Isn’t Falling On Deaf Ears

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Accordion music must be striking a chord with music fans, because fewer people are turned off by the instrument than in years past.

That’s according to Tom Torriglia, the organizer of the 15th Annual San Francisco Accordion Festival. He says he’s never been the victim of accordion bashing and when he tells people he plays the instrument, they usually tell him “wow, that’s cool.”

Torriglia figures there’s been enough accordion music in popular bands in the last 20 years that it’s not goofy anymore.

He says any type of music can be played on an accordion and he recently wowed guests at a wedding by playing “Here Comes Your Man” by The Pixies on the accordion.

And when people approach him and ask him to play “Stairway to Heaven” he says, “In what key?”

Torriglia will emcee the festival on June 5.
