The mother of three young boys believes being balanced and well-rounded in life is more important than making it in any professional sport as a child.
In her words, Its great to have dreams, its great to go after them, but we all need to have some balance as well.
Austins view is probably influenced by the way her parents treated her.
She says they were always very supportive but never pushed too hard, adding she always felt like one of the couples five kids and not a child prodigy.
While Austin admits its good for sports parents to encourage their children to succeed, it should be the kids desire and motivation to participate, not forced on them by their parents.
Austin narrates the documentary, Sports Kids Moms & Dads, which premieres June 1 on the Bravo network.
