Dead Kennedys Still Alive And Kicking

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Who would have thought that a band called The Dead Kennedys would be around for 27 years?

Believe it or not, the pioneering punk band has been around since 1978 and still packs clubs with punkers wanting to hear hits like “California Uber Alles” or “Too Drunk To F.”

Even more amazing is that the band’s 26-year-old lead singer, Jeff Penalty, wasn’t even born when the group first got together.

Penalty replaced founder Jello Biafra and admits it’s not easy filling his steel-toed boots. He takes the challenge “seriously” because he has “the utmost respect for Biafra as a performer and a songwriter.”

Although Penalty was afraid fans might express disapproval by spitting, he’s happy to say he hasn’t been gobsmacked yet.

However, he is getting pressured by his fellow bandmembers who told him he has to get a tattoo in order to truly be a Dead Kennedy.

So far, Penalty has held them off, saying, “Once everyone and their grandma has a tattoo, it’s no longer a statement of individuality.”
