According to Carol Setters, a Harley rider for the last five years, the days of female riders being thought of as eye candy, always on the wrong side of the law and an accessory to inked-up male riders have been left in the dust.
She says, these days, most lady hog straddlers are like herself: happily married, law-abiding citizens who are more likely to be covered in pants and sweatshirts than tattoos and leather.
In her words, We are not just rebels anymore like many people think. We are actually pretty normal.
She figures her book, Kick Start: A Cosmic Biker Babes Guide to Life and Changing the Planet (Conari Press), will help prove some of these stereotypes wrong and show female riders that they can be whatever they want to be.
The book rumbles into stores May 1.
