‘Little House’ Is Big Break For New Laura Ingalls

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Little House On The Prairie is giving one young actress her big break.

A miniseries remake of the 1970s series debuts Saturday (Mar. 26) on ABC but this time actress Kyle Chavarria is portraying Laura Ingalls instead of Melissa Gilbert.

Chavarria is excited about the opportunity but stresses that the new version of Little House is much closer to the original Laura Ingalls books than the Michael Landon series.

She hopes the special becomes a series because she’d like “to see the cast and crew again.” But while she’s enjoyed making Little House, it wasn’t easy making a film on the prairie near Calgary, Alberta, because it required her to wear lots of itchy long johns, even when there was a mild heat wave.

However, Chavarria’s biggest challenge came during a fire scene. As she puts it, “There was a lot of fog and we had to cough a lot and I ended up with a sore throat.”

ABC will air a two-hour Little House On The Prairie movie on Saturday (Mar. 26) and follow it with four one-hour specials after that.
