Two 29-year-old gay pop singers who perform as Jason & deMarco say the Singapore government barred them from entering the country to perform at an HIV and AIDS benefit concert spearheaded by the gay Christian Singapore support group, Safehaven.
The Singapore news site todayonline.com reports that it is the Media Development Authority who is responsible for denying Jason & deMarco, saying the group, uses their musical performance and their own example of being a couple to celebrate and promote a gay lifestyle.
The Los Angeles-based couple, who started their music careers in Christian rock, denies that they have an agenda to spread and chalks up the MDAs decision to homophobia.
DeMarco says the decision is unfair, but adds I could understand if it was a huge gay rave event.
Jason and deMarco say they plan to await an appeal, and say in their mind, ...were still going to Singapore.
