Female DJs Spinning Onto Scene

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – You would think breaking into the male dominated DJ scene would be hard for aspiring lady spinsters, but in fact, it’s quite the opposite.

That’s according to Chicago-based DJ Solange, six-year veteran of the scene, who says that being female has actually helped her get a leg up on the male competition.

In her words, “When you’re a girl in this business, you’re still viewed as a novelty and people want to see what they’re not used to.”

Still, the 24-year-old says the ladies have to be good to get gigs, but admits “it definitely has made it easier for us to get into.”

More and more girls are taking advantage of the reverse sexism and as a result, DJ Solange predicts an influx of lady DJs to go mainstream very soon.

She’s hoping she’s one of them and will make her case starting today (March 1) in Hollywood, Calif. when she battles two other lady spinsters in the Beauty and the Beats contest.
