If I Only Had The Cash: ‘The Wizard Of Oz’ Items Up For Auction

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Two separate auction houses are hoping to see green with a few movie memorabilia items from the Emerald City.

On April 1, Los Angeles-based memorabilia dealer Profiles In History will auction off actress Margaret Hamilton’s “Wicked Witch of the West” hat from the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz as part of a larger auction. The hat is estimated at $40,000 to $60,000.

In addition, a rare “Flying Monkey” special effects figurine is up for auction and is estimated to bring in $10,000 to $12,000.

Meanwhile, on April 26, London’s Bonhams auction house will auction off Dorothy’s blue and white gingham cotton dress from the movie. According to their Hollywood historians, the dress was tailored to fit actress Judy Garland’s 27-inch waist and has her name sewn on the inside of the hem.

The dress’ estimated value is somewhere between $50,000 and $70,000.
