NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – How did the epic news break when ice was found on Mars? Was it CNN? Fox News?

No, it was Twitter.

NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s MarsPhoenix Twitter account broke the big scoop, tweeting to the world: “Are you ready to celebrate? Well, get ready: We have ICE!!!!! Yes, ICE, þWATER ICEþ on Mars! Wook!!!! Best day ever!!”

AOL Senior Correspondent Buck Wolf celebrates some of the world’s greatest tweets this week. They include...

  • A passenger on Continental Airlines 737, who was the first to report that his plane had crashed in Denver via Twitter.

  • Demi Moore, a tweet-addict who helped avert a suicide after a distressed fan sent her a message saying that she was thinking of ending her life.

  • And Max Kiesler, who tweeted a marriage proposal to his girlfriend. Moments later, his tech-savvy gal tweeted back those three magic words, “Yes, I do!”
