`So You Think You Can Dance' Turns The Beat Around

Tuesday, March 30, 2010 17:11 GMT

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – So You Think You Can Dance is really shaking things up.

Nigel Lythgoe, creator and judge of the dancing series, has just announced plans to completely turn the beat around on the seventh season of SYTYCD, which premieres May 27 on FOX.

For starters, Lythgoe says there’ll only be 10 finalists this time – in hopes that America gets to know the dancers on a deeper level.

Only one twinkle toes will be eliminated each week and they’ll be switching up dance partners every single time.

The biggest twist: Contestants will be partnered with “All-Stars” – alumni from previous SYTYCD seasons.

The vets will dance, but leave the current contestants on their own to face the judges.

Lythgoe thinks the changes will create a “very exciting show,” but he continues to hold out hope for the ultimate bombshell.

He still dreams of the day that Paula Abdul accepts his offer to join their judges’ panel.
