AMARILLO, Texas (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The latest American Idol reject has sound advice for kids out there: Always talk to strangers.

If you’re shy, at least.

Lacey Brown was booted from Idol last Wednesday (Mar. 17) but is proud of how far she’s come considering how shy she was growing up.

She recalls being “timid and afraid of people” until she was about 13 and decided enough was enough.

Ultimately, she came out of her shell by talking to strangers.

She’d go to stores and strike up conversations with clerks about where certain items were located, even if she already knew the answer.

Brown is convinced that helped her “grow” and eventually gave her the courage to sing at her church and audition for Idol.

While she’s determined to make an album, first she just wants to go to Starbucks like a normal person again.

She welcomes strangers to say hello if they see her.

Idol airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays on FOX.
