Internet Has Mother Nature's Back
Wednesday, March 17, 2010 17:08 GMT
SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) The Internet is quickly turning into Mother Natures new best friend. After discovering that 300 acres of land belonging to a tribe of Ecuadorian healers is in danger of being de-forested in less than 30 days, Google employee Natalie Villalobos decided to help in the one way she knows how by using the Internet.
She started 300Acres.com in order to help raise the $70,000 needed to buy the ancient land and is using every viral medium possible to spread the word including Facebook, Twitter, and an iPhone app that allows her to swipe credit cards through her cell phone to get donations on the spot.
Villalobos says the Internet is changing the way people change the world because people can push ideas and causes far and wide in a shorter amount of time.
This new fundraising strategy will do a world of good, and allow the online masses to make an impact quickly.
