Paraplegic Climbs Kilimanjaro
Thursday, February 18, 2010 17:22 GMT
SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) One paraplegic woman defeated Mount Kilimanjaro, powered by strength, determination, and chocolate.San Diego resident Erica Davis has never been one to not go for a challenge, despite being paraplegic.
So when given the opportunity to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, she made it to the top something most able-bodied people cant accomplish.
In fact, while climbing the summit, Davis and her crew saw at least five people being carried down in stretchers.
Davis admits the feat, which took eight days as the 28-year- old pushed herself up the trail, was very difficult.
Luckily, she had the drive and her favorite snacks to help her power through.
She explains, I had beef jerky, Reeses Pieces, Snickers, and Cliff Bars. I was munching on those throughout. Its a long climb, so I had to break it down. I concentrated on just making it to lunchtime.
