Thursday, February 4, 2010 17:20 GMT
SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) The cats out of the bag: Milk does NOT do a kittys body good.February is National Cat Health Month, but furry felines arent exactly fit.
For starters, they shouldnt be lapping up bowls of milk.
According to the Pet Parent Purrception survey by 9Lives cat food, only 30 percent of pet owners know that milk is not a wholesome choice for cats because most are lactose intolerant.
Additionally, 48 percent of owners feed their kitties table scraps or human food about seven times per month.
This includes veggies that really arent good for cats like green tomatoes and raw potatoes.
With diets like that, a hefty 40 percent of all cats are suffering from obesity.
Turns out 70 percent of cat parents think its beneficial to keep their cats on a dry food-only diet, while 23 percent think a purely vegetarian diet is best. In reality, both can be harmful.
