Metal Band Plays ‘Sesame Street’ Songs

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – For one kooky band, it doesn’t get any more metal than Sesame Street.

Cookie Mongoloid plays abrasive speed-metal versions of classic Sesame Street songs like “Up & Down” and “C Is For Cookie.”

Their frontman is a furry, leather-clad, blue monster named The Cookie Mongoloid, who may be Cookie Monster’s distant cousin.

Band manager Loid Mongoloid says Cookie – whose real identity remains a mystery – rides into shows on a motorcycle and pelts the audience with actual cookies.

Says Loid: “No one ever leaves hungry.”

Their target fans are adults who need to relax and get back in touch with their childhood through revamped preschool ditties.

Like metal music, the original Cookie Monster is “about decadence and letting loose,” so stuffy grown-ups should take a cue.

Though Mongoloid’s frontman has a serious addiction to cookies and can often be found freebasing the sweets, he shows up to every gig.

The Cookie Mongoloid growls, “Groupies love me.”
