No Flying Pumpkins For The Poor

NASSAU, Del. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – It’s raining pumpkins, but not in poor countries.

Pumpkins will be falling from the sky this weekend (Nov. 6-8) at the Punkin’ Chunkin’ Festival in Nassau, Delaware, where people compete in the ultimate pumpkin throwing contest.

Participants have been working tirelessly on homemade launching machines like trebuchets, air cannons, and catapults and will be shooting squash as far as they possibly can.

Though many complain that shooting pumpkins is wasteful and that the veggies should be sent to poor countries, spokesperson Frank Shade says all the complaints don’t squash the fun.

In fact, he thinks if people were so worried about wasting food they’d do something about it.

He says, “We offer two pumpkins for one. For every one we shoot we’ll give two that can be sent to third world countries by people who want to pay to have them shipped. No one ever wants to pay.”
