TrekDesk is a $479 full-sized, adjustable work desk that attaches to existing treadmills, allowing office employees to walk on the job.
Creator Steve Bordley says that, essentially, chairs are making us fat, but walking while working could change that.
He figures if someone walks during an eight-hour work day at a slow speed, they could burn between 800 and 1,400 calories.
Bordley says walking helps employees avoid burnout and fatigue, making them more alert and focused. The mild exercise will also put them in a better mood.
Bordley assures that TrekDesk is roomy enough to function as an actual work desk. It includes a file tray, phone holder, and two cup holders.
He says people can easily type, talk or the phone, or write memos while walking, and the movement wont be distracting.
However, he doesnt recommend using scissors or sharp objects at the TrekDesk or treading in high heels.
