At least thats how series creator Dan Harmon sees it.
The show, which premieres tonight (Sep. 17) and stars The Soups Joel McHale, is about a band of misfits who attend community college.
Because its kind of about education, Harmon figures President Barack Obama must support it, especially since the prez has been praising junior colleges in his speeches lately.
He recalls Obama saying that community college is the backbone of America pretty much a free endorsement for the show.
Though Community focuses on the funny, awkward aspects of college, it doesnt negate the importance of higher education.
Harmon says that in this economy, any degree is a good degree, and junior college is the perfect place to get all your ducks in a row.
The show is based on his own community college experience.
