So says Seth Menachem, who compiles words of wisdom from his elderly neighbors on LifeAdviceFromOldPeople.com.
Though he admits his octogenarian neighbors dont necessarily give good advice, like one who vaguely told him to get a job and another who said he should keep his mind busy, Menachem says learning the backstory of where their advice comes from is fascinating.
Menachem says, Its usually things they learned from their own mistakes rather than what theyve done right.
He even got a life lesson from veteran actor Jon Voight, who told him to be one of the good guys in life and live up to his potential.
Since starting his site, Menachem has made friends with his elderly neighbors and says asking them for advice opens a floodgate of conversation since theyre just glad to have someone pay attention to them.
