‘Candyland’ Comes To Life

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Strolling through a candy cane forest is no longer just a childhood fantasy.

Hasbro toy company is bringing the classic board game Candyland to life today (Aug. 19) on San Francisco’s famously crooked Lombard Street to celebrate the game’s 60th birthday.

Spokesperson Pat Riso says the strange location is the “perfect path” to replicate Candyland, and hopes to create a “big and beautiful” event to honor the childhood staple.

Just like in the game, sections of the street will be made to look like the “Candy Cane Forest” and “Gum Drop Mountain,” and kids from the UC San Francisco Children’s Hospital will be used as live playing pieces, traveling through the path.

Riso says Candyland holds a “strong” place in hearts, since it was many people’s first board game.

She’s sure that seeing Candyland re-made in human size will bring back warm childhood memories for those in attendance.
