Just ask Tom Gersic, who runs dibsregistry.net, where folks call “dibs” on whatever they feel they’re entitled to.
The site was inspired by a public dibs war between Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart who kept trying to be the first to take credit for different news stories.
Since then, it’s amassed more than 10,000 dibs from people around the globe, calling ownership on things like “the next toke,” “loving penis,” “being the first to piss myself,” and “waterboarding Sean Hannity.”
Gersic says the dibs are often related to current events, with a recent posting calling “Michael Jackson’s nose.”
People also enjoy calling dibs on other people, like someone who wants ownership of has-been rapper Coolio, and someone who feels entitled to “bathing Stephen Colbert.”
The most popular dibs to date is for “Jon Stewart’s O Face,” posted by someone claiming to be Stephen Colbert.
