Today (Jul. 1) Is International Moonwalk Day

ATLANTA (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Today (Jul. 1), Michael Jackson fans can honor the late pop icon by moonwalking around the office.

Moonwalkday.com has declared today “International Moonwalk Day,” and people are encouraged to “spontaneously moonwalk as often as possible” whether it’s at work, school, or just around town.

The site boasts YouTube clips of MJ doing the moonwalk, presumably so folks can learn the techniques of the infamous dance.

Jacko’s moonwalk was popularized in 1983 after he busted out the gravity-defying moves along to “Billie Jean” during a televised Motown special.

Though many will pay tribute to the King Of Pop by gliding today, it’s not the first organized moonwalk movement.

The day after Jackson’s death (Jun. 26), more than 300 fans gathered in London outside the Liverpool Street train station to moonwalk in unison to the sounds of “Billie Jean,” “Bad,” and “Thriller.”
