On Saturday (Jun. 27), congregation members of the New Bethel Church in Louisville, Kentucky, will show up to worship with a pistol and a prayer for the Open Carry Celebration.
To show their support of the first two Amendments, church goers are being asked to bring their guns with them to the Lord’s house and wear them openly to celebrate American rights and promote responsible gun ownership.
Pastor Ken Pagano wants to use the celebration as a way to say, “There are level-headed, educated, God-fearing, community-minded people who are also gun owners.”
He believes that without a strong, deep-seated belief in God and without the use of firearms, the United States would’ve never existed because the combination of the two aided America’s fight for independence.
He accepts that many people don’t think Jesus would approve of mixing worship with weapons, but is standing his ground – gun in hand.
