Larry Doyles book I Love You, Beth Cooper (Harper Perennial), has been adapted into a movie thatll be released in theaters July 10 with Hayden Panettiere playing the titular character.
Doyle says hes excited to see his book come to life, and got to work on set during the filming.
Though he spent some time shaping scenes and writing new dialogue for the characters, the author admits his on-set experience revolved more around chowing down than doing actual work.
He laughs, I didnt have much to do except eat all the food they have out on the snack table. You can gain 50 pounds without realizing on movie sets.
Doyle says it was hard to resist snacking away during his major career milestone, especially because people would come out at random times and start making omelettes, which he thought was weird.
