Thats the advice from Deborah Miller of the Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, Chamber of Commerce, and she should know since the city is invaded by pirates every year during their Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival.
Ever since Somali pirates started hijacking ships off the Gulf Of Aden, Ft. Walton Beach has been on high alert since they have a history of pirate pillaging dating back hundreds of years.
However, Miller wants to assure that no thieving, kidnapping, cutthroat buccaneers will be setting foot in the city.
She says, Its most unfortunate that people actually engage in illegal or harmful activities. They give pirates a bad name. In no way do we intend to glorify harmful pirate actions or would we invite them into our town.
Miller says the only reason they let the city fall to the pirates at all is because the scallywags at their festival are actually a lot of fun when they get here.
