Animator Chuck Jones Embodied Pepe Le Pew

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Legendary animator Chuck Jones was just as romantic as his cartoon creation, Pepe Le Pew.

Jones’ widow, Marian Jones, says the mastermind behind classic characters like Wile E. Coyote, The Roadrunner, Marvin The Martian, Elmer Fudd, and Pepe Le Pew was a regular Casanova.

Marian explains, “Chuck was a lot like Pepe. He was very much a romancer who grew up in the courtship era where women were adorable and it was important to pursue them. He loved to kiss women’s hands!”

Aside from Pepe, Marian says Chuck yearned to be like Bugs Bunny, because he was “the comic hero Chuck wished he was.”

Though Marian loves all of Jones’ classic cartoons, she admits her favorite is Daffy Duck.

She says, “I adore Daffy. He’s so human and has all the same foibles as us. His heart is good, he just can’t stop making mistakes!”

More on Chuck’s life and career can be seen in Chuck Jones: Memories Of Childhood, a documentary premiering tomorrow (Mar. 24) on TCM.
