Ian McShane Rules With A Velvet Glove

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – You’d think onscreen villain Ian McShane would rule with an iron fist, but it’s more like a velvet glove.

McShane – best known for his role on Deadwood – stars in a new David & Goliath-style TV drama called Kings, where he plays the long-time ruler of a kingdom.

While his character is a natural-born leader, McShane considers himself more of a “rebel outsider,” and says he was never the one to organize games or outings with his friends as a kid.

In fact, McShane says he’s much better at following orders than dictating them, which is why he became an actor.

However, Kings executive producer Michael Green begs to differ and says McShane is definitely a leader backstage – and a nice one at that.

Green explains, “Ian is the beloved leader of our set. He’s a leader that makes people laugh.”

Still, both McShane and Green note, “No one stays good forever!”

Kings premieres this Sunday (Mar. 15) on NBC.
