Chicano Rockers Win Over Norway

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – There may not be much Mexican-American influence in Norway, but one Chicano rock group is changing that.

Los Fabulocos is a quartet of Mexican-American musicians from East Los Angeles who jive to a mix of Chicano rock, blues, and classic Mexican ditties in both English and Spanish.

While the group is popular in Spanish-speaking areas like Southern California and Texas, guitarist Kid Ramos says they’re also garnering a fanbase in surprising places like Germany and Norway.

They recently played a gig at a club in Oslo, Norway, and Ramos says the venue was filled to the max with curious music fans.

Though the audience was a bit confused by their songs in Spanish, they began dancing and singing along after a few minutes.

Says Ramos: “The rockabilly kids in Norway were loving it!”

Ramos believes their music is universal – no matter what language they sing in – because it’s their melodies that truly translate.

Los Fabulocos’ self-titled CD is out now.
