Martin Luther King Jr.: ‘I Have A Drink’

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Martin Luther King Jr. is honored for having a dream, and on MLK Jr. Day (Jan. 19), Americans can toast the late Civil Rights leader by having a drink.

Many years ago, former New York-based bartender Daniel Delson created a special drink in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.

The master mixologist sips on the beverage known as “King Cola” to this day, and says the cocktail is perfect for celebrating King’s historic legacy.

“King Cola” blends Coca-Cola, Jim Beam, Chambord, and a cherry garnish together for a sweet treat.

Delson says it’s a more flavorful take on a regular Jack and Coke and the sweetness gives the drink a special “southern charm.”

Since the ingredients are simple and can be found anywhere in the country, the drink is accessible and can be enjoyed by all, just like MLK would’ve wanted.

Says Delson: “It’s a unifying drink that brings people together because it’s not an acquired taste.”
