James Roday Loves The ’80s

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Psych star James Roday knows everything there is to know about the ’80s – just try him.

Roday plays a fake psychic on the comedy mystery series, and his character always makes random pop culture references to music, movies, and events from the ’80s and ’90s.

The tidbits are so obscure, sometimes his co-star Dule Hill has absolutely no idea what Roday is talking about.

Still, Roday enjoys his pop culture mastery.

He laughs, “It keeps me sharp. As I get older, I lose track of this useful information. I was a child of the ’80s and ’90s, so I should know my past.”

His trivia-laden scripts have made him a whiz at pop culture board games like Trivial Pursuit, but only in the entertainment and sports categories.

He admits academic questions aren’t his forte, and when he lands on the “yellow or brown” categories – history and art and literature, respectively – he automatically throws in the towel.

New episodes of Psych begin tonight (Jan. 9) on USA.
