Cyber Monday (Dec. 1): A Safe Shopping Alternative

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Those who fear a dangerous Black Friday (Nov. 28) shopping excursion can hit the web on Cyber Monday (Dec. 1) instead.

Ellen Davis, of the National Retail Federation, says shopping online on the Monday after Black Friday, known as Cyber Monday, offers many benefits over the 4 AM mall rush on the busiest shopping day of the year.

Along with avoiding the crazy cat fights over games and toys, she says, “You don’t have to fight the crowds, deal with parking, or stand in line. You avoid all the chaotic things about shopping on Black Friday.”

Though Davis acknowledges that many still prefer shopping at the mall, she tempts buyers to stray to their computers because online retailers offer great sales and free Christmas (Dec. 25) wrapping.

Davis says cyber shoppers can feel safe purchasing from large chain store websites, but should do a Google search on smaller online retailers to make sure they’re legit.
