Tisha Campbell-Martin Steps Up Her Keyboard Game

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Tisha Campbell-Martin is determined to become a keyboard master so she can fit in with her new band.

Campbell-Martin – best known for her roles in Martin and My Wife and Kids – plays a chatty postal worker who joins a neighborhood garage band in the new sitcom Rita Rocks.

Her character sings and plays keyboard in the group, though only one of those musical talents is actually for real.

Thanks to years of singing in her school and church choirs, Campbell-Martin uses her real pipes on the show, but her keyboard skills are seriously lacking.

She fakes her playing for the scenes – but not for long.

Lately, she’s been taking keyboard classes so she can blend in with her co-stars, who all actually know how to play their instruments.

Campbell-Martin says, “I have to step up my game. I don’t want to look like I’m totally faking it because in the pilot, I look crazy trying to play that keyboard!”

Rita Rocks premieres today (Oct. 20) on Lifetime.
