Thats because its National Techies Day, a day to give the computer technician in your life thanks for their super geeky skills that keep your PC from going caput.
Scott Smeltzer, who owns the San Diego-based company, On-Site Tech Support, says techies should be honored because theyre also psychologists.
He explains, Ive gotten a few meltdowns when peoples computers crash. I just have to calm them down quickly and tell them its gonna be okay, and to go have a cup of tea, and that Im going to fix everything.
Smeltzer says all it takes to show a techie that you care is a nice appreciatory thanks, even though he laments, No one has ever given me flowers.
Though Smeltzer says hell be working on National Techies Day, he says many techies will most likely celebrate by keeping their laptops off all day.
