Actor Does His Best Fake Drummer Impression

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One rising actor refuses to rise to the occasion if someone asks him to play drums.

Phillip Vaden stars in Pope Dreams, a film about a drummer who dreams big.

Vaden admits he faked his stellar drum skills for the role, and “can’t take credit” for any of his rockstar moves.

The film’s director was a drummer and coached Vaden on the kit, and although he now fancies himself an “amateur drummer,” he’d never brave the stage at a rock show.

Vaden laughs, “I say I’m an amateur drummer until someone actually asks me to play. Then I’m like, ‘Well, by amateur, I mean I can’t play at all!’”

But just because he can’t get down on the snares, doesn’t mean he can’t keep a beat.

He played percussion in his junior high school band, but “didn’t play the cool drums, just the lame drums.”

He was also a pro at the triangle and joined the school choir, but only because “that’s where all the cute girls were.”

Pope Dreams comes out on DVD today (Aug. 26).
