Jewish Elvis Impersonator Aims To Be The King Of Peace

MONTREAL (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – An Elvis impersonator in Montreal has a “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going On” in support of world peace.

Dan Hartal – better known as “Schmelvis” the Jewish Elvis – is planning a world peace tour in the name of his idol Elvis Presley.

Though Schmelvis says Presley didn’t like to talk about politics much, he does believe The King was a peaceful man.

Schmelvis says Elvis was more concerned with world politics and peace than people give him credit for, as evidenced in his early gospel songs.

Schmelvis says, “Elvis sang about poverty and drugs in America. He knew there was a problem.”

If the rock ’n’ roll icon were still alive, Schmelvis believes he’d crusade for world peace, so he’s doing just that in his honor.

In January 2009, around Elvis’ birthday (Jan. 8), Schmelvis plans to embark on a world peace tour to Jerusalem, where he can spread his Jewish Elvis mantra with anyone who’ll listen.

He believes Elvis would approve of his mission since he was a “self-searching man” and will do him proud by “becoming Elvis” the minute he puts on the white jumpsuit.
