Mediator and relationship expert Laurie Puhn says that while MySpace and Facebook are great ways to enhance ones social life, they can be damaging to couples in meaningful romantic relationships.
She explains, Its difficult to express emotions through these sites. There isnt an exchange of ideas because its all one-sided.
This lack of emotion often causes confusion among couples.
Another major downfall is that theres no privacy online to express how you really feel.
Since everything is public, it affects what people write to their loved ones because they know others will be reading their comments.
Puhn also warns that social sites arent platforms for revenge.
Denouncing your partner in a public forum will, in her words, make you look crazy, so if you need to call them out do it the old-fashioned way: Make a phone call.
