Starting June 24, Days will begin airing a new storyline that deals with autism.
Jones and Reynolds characters married couple Lexie and Abe Carver find out that their three-year-old son has autism and have to cope with the life-changing disability.
For Reynolds, autism is close to his heart.
He has three sets of close friends who are parents of autistic children and hes aware of the difficulties that come with the disability.
Still, he was surprised by the overwhelming autism statistics, especially the fact that one in every 150 kids has autism.
Jones who didnt know much about autism before the soaps storyline has been studying the emotions that parents of autistic kids go through so she can do justice to the experience onscreen.
Shes been looking to autism advocate Jenny McCarthy for guidance, and is amazed with the determination of autism parents.
The autism storyline on Days of Our Lives will continue to run through the summer and fall.
